A brief note on the IASC 2011 European Meeting

Here’s one of the best reasons to be a member of IASC: we have wonderful conferences!

In September, the European meeting was held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, a lovely city with a charming historic old town and gardens. The conference venue was the Agricultural University of Plovdiv, which provided excellent conference facilities only a short walk from our hotel. Scholars from 21 countries met to discuss “Shared Resources in a Rapidly Changing World”; one focus was on the special challenges of resource management regimes in post-socialist countries.

2011-12 Membership Drive

This year IASC invites you to support the association and become member with a direct invitation from Susan Buck, current President.

Commons are spaces of collective action where communities maintain the environment to sustain their livelihoods and cultural values.
The commons are particularly important to the livelihoods of poor people in the South, to environmental integrity in the South and North, and to mitigating and adapting to climate change.
