Summer School Course 'Land Governance for Development' - Utrecht University, July 2016 - deadline registration 1 June 2016

LANDac (organizational member of the IASC) organizes a 2 weeks summer school course on 'Land Governance for Development' as part of Utrecht University's Summer School Utrecht 2016. Large-scale acquisition of land in the global South has received a great deal of interest in the last few years. The course is designed for Master’s students, PhD students, academics as well as for practitioners from development organizations, projects, and governments who are interested in or work in the fields of land governance, development studies, natural resource management, planning, human rights, and conflict studies.

Expert meeting 'The Commons!' (Re:Creating Europe Forum on European Culture) - Amsterdam, 2 June 2016

On 2 June 2016, DutchCulture, European Cultural Foundation, and De Balie organized a closed expert session on 'The Commons!' as part of the Re:Creating Europe Forum on European Culture. Having been neglected for some time, the commons reemerged as a collective term for a wide range of citizen’s activities, from urban gardening to governing cultural spaces. During this expert session experts, artists, activists and academics discussed these questions: does this new emphasis on the Commons illustrate the transition from governments to co-governance, or are the Commons the last resort for bottom top activists, and how does the idea of the Commons relate to the local and the global?

Symposium 'Cooperation in the field' - Utrecht University - 23 June 2016

On 23 June the symposium ‘Cooperation in the field’ is organized and hosted by researchers affiliated with the strategic theme 'Institutions for Open Societies' (supporting member of the IASC) of Utrecht University. Several international speakers will share their practical experience with (research on) cooperation.
